I haven’t done many posts yet. Well, unless you are reading this years from now and I have really kicked on. But I wanted to clarify me as a Vegan.
I recently watched Paul Bashir, founder of Anonymous for the Voiceless, give a talk on how to handle non-vegans. Now I am very aware that this seminar is aimed at members joining the cube of truth. I haven’t been able to join one yet, but I wanted to hear how Paul handles the situations. Early on he clarifies the meaning of the word Vegan. He stipulates it as being against all forms of animal exploitation. Nothing to do with the environment or human health. He says these actually take away from the real message.
My blog is of course tied to human health and planet health, but my veganism is truly linked to stopping the exploitation of animals. In a previous blog I highlighted the benefits of turning people to veganism through their stomachs or by showing them the environmental benefits. I do not think I gave stopping animal exploitation enough importance in my earlier position. The Vegan in veganchefdad is truly about being against animal exploitation. Perhaps some people are uncomfortable with that and I was pandering to their feelings so here it is, be Vegan because you are not an animal abuser, then enjoy all the wonderful benefits to your health and the planet. When you bring veganism to others, do it to stop them being abusers and pro-animal exploitation, not because it makes them feel better.
I hope my position is clear and I am pleased that I still learn every day.
